Pastor Dean

I'm Dean and I'm the Lead Pastor of Cypress Point Community Church of New Tampa, Wesley Chapel & Zephyrhills. I am primarily responsible for the overall leadership of the church and for most of the teaching on Sundays. I have a passion to see people become all that God created them to be.

BASIC STUFF:

We moved here in 1997. We were married in 1986 and have lived in North Carolina, Texas, New Jersey and now Florida. We have three ah-mazing daughters!

EDUCATION:

B.A. Columbia International University; M.Div. from Southwestern Theological Seminary, Th.M from Princeton Theological Seminary; Ph.D from Florida State University.

PLACES:

I like to travel. Period. So far, 27 different countries. I especially adore the mountains of NC and the Gulfcoast beaches of FL.

What's on your iPod? Artists with the most tracks include: Beatles, Casting Crowns, David Crowder Band, Muse, U2, Coldplay, Chris Tomlin , Cracker, James Blout, Rob Thomas, The Killers (daughter's influence).

BOOKS:

Anything by Bill Hybels, Pat Conroy, Christopher Buckley, C.S. Lewis, John Ortberg, and Malcolm Gladwell.

SPORT TEAM:

Florida State Seminoles andTampa Bay Rays.

DISLIKES:

Prejudice in all forms, uncomfortable shoes, eggplant, and people who litter.

Favorite Movies:

Sound of Music, A Shot in the Dark, Pink Panther, Chariots of Fire, Shawshank Redemption, The Mission, Princess Bride, Gladiator, Man on Fire, the Book of Eli.

Many of the Puritan and Colonial leaders including Jonathan Edwards, George Washington, Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. From the 19th Century Mark Twain and Dwight Moody. From the 20th Century, William F. Buckley, Jr., Billy Graham, Dr. Martin L. King, Bill Hybels and my father and mother.
